The thermal spa resort of Hajdúszoboszló lies 210 km east of Budapest and 20 km from Debrecen. Over the past decades it has earned worldwide fame for its exceptional medicinal thermal water and wellness facilities. This small, welcoming town is full of cafés, restaurants and bars, and in summer it fills with festivals, a circus, an amusement park and open-air concerts. Its unusual dark, mineral-rich thermal water is renowned for healing rheumatism and joint injuries and for easing respiratory and skin conditions — which is why thousands of visitors return here every year.
What to do in Hajdúszoboszló
Aquapark
The aquapark sits right on the beach and was Hungary’s very first slide complex. The starting tower is 12 metres high, with 15 different tracks for fans of big splashes and a total slide length of 1 km. Younger visitors have mini-slides, playful animal figures in the pools and a playground, while a lazy river and pools at different temperatures are on hand for anyone after a more relaxed afternoon.

Beach & thermal pools
The 30-hectare beach complex is open from 1 May to 30 September and has 13 pools for every age — swimming, wave, whirlpool and children’s pools. Its most famous feature is the palm-lined “Mediterranean Coast” pool, and the on-site sports centre offers beach volleyball, football, streetball and tennis courts.

Aqua Palace (indoor, year-round)
The indoor Aqua Palace is a rainy-day and winter favourite: two surfing paths, an ice cave, a cinema, thermal baths, Roman and Indian baths, a sea pool with a slide, plus dedicated children’s pools and slides. There’s also a swimming pool, gym, aerobics room and two squash courts, with a snack bar, self-service restaurant and coffee bar on site.
