April 4, 2021

Szeged is a city in the south part of Hungary, located on the banks of Tisza River. This is the third largest city in the country, very interesting from a tourist point of view: interesting sights and architectural monuments, history and culture, as well as a special cozy atmosphere.

Szeged is known as the “City of Sunshine, ” because it has the highest number of sunny days in Hungary.

The city centre of Szeged is a lovely place to walk around, with open spaces and wide, pedestrianised streets lined with Neoclassical and Art Nouveau style buildings.

95% of Szeged’s buildings were destroyed by floods in 1879. Then the city got rebuilt. All the new buildings have formed into a single ensemble in the Art Nouveau style. This architectural trend is distinguished by it’s sophistication and originality of forms.

Relaxing and historic
The Anna Thermal baths are situated in a beautiful building in the heart of the city. The medicinal water of the Anna Thermal baths contains alkali-hydrogen-carbonic which may sound way too chemical, but in fact it is really effective in treating rheumatism or joint problems. There are a variety of saunas, including hot Finnish ones, a hot and a cooler steam room. As well as pools at different temperatures, many with hydrotherapy jets. The hottest at 36 C is a medicinal pool. The bath has a swimming pool, a buffer and an internal garden for sunbathing.
